Male Dominance: Pitbull, Adam, BAKER & BIGBANG!

It should come as no surprise that two members of Latin music royalty have decided to collaborate on a single track, but it is still shocking to see Pitbull and Shakira's names together. The pair have released "Get It Started", the lead single off Pitbull's upcoming album, Global Warming.  Seems the artist is claiming that his newest project will be hotter than ever and who better to team up with than one of the hottest female singers out there right now. The song is your typical dance/pop track, created to takeover every dance floor in the world. What seems like a mess on paper come together as the perfect masterpiece with a little Latin flavor thrown in for good measure.
"Get It Started" opens with Pitbull spitting verses of how he is on top of the world... They don't call him Mr. Worldwide for nothing. People would say that he does exactly what he does on every other track he is featured on, but I like hearing the confidence and cockiness in his voice. Just when you think the entire track will be loud and beat-driven, Shakira comes in to sing the catchy chorus with some subtlety, turning the piece in something entirely different. The song deals with love, getting lostin someone's eyes and wishing to be with them for a lifetime. While Pitbull is living in the moment, Shakira is singing that she is ready to settle down and be with one person for the rest of life. She's ready to get it started. I enjoy the interesting pairing and I feel it could be a big radio and dance hit. Are you feeling Pitbull's newest single?

It seems the US never gets Adam Lambert's hidden gems. Lambert recently scored his first number one album with the release of his sophomore album Trespassing, which contained 15 amazing tracks if you opted to purchase the deluxe edition. But seems that other countries were treated to even more presents. Why Adam? Have your US fans been bad? I promise I haven't... Sorry! Anyway, Japan saw the release of bonus track "By the Rules", which is another great addition to the record, but the UK, saw the release of a second extra track. "Map" is a beautiful, slow ballad showing Adam expressing his devoted love to the one that holds a special place in his heart. Before Lambert was running around lost, but now his path is clear when he has his love by his side. The track is amazing, I am hoping it will be available in the states very soon.
Congratulations are also in order for Lambert who is set to secure a top 5 spot on the UK album charts, his single "Never Close Our Eyes" is also set for a top 20 debut, his first in the country. "Map" is a true gem, maybe one of the best coming out of the Trespassing era. You can say that I enjoy the track so much because it was not included on the US version of his album, but Adam sounds like he is really in love. I can relate to the track and it has been playing for me nonstop. I feel Adam's best work never gets to see the light of day in the US. Lambert's best cut off For Your Entertainment was a show-stopping track called "Can't Let You Go". I am sure only die-hard fans know of its presence and I feel "Map" is just as great as the forementioned "could have been perfect single". Glamberts! How are we digging this UK bonus track? Perfection? Yeah I thought so too.

One of my past obsessions just released a brand new song and music video and it seriously has made my week that much better. BAKER, the stylish, male pop star is moving on towards a full fledged career with "Not Gonna Wait", a funk, retro dance track that has become quite an earworm since its release. The song is a slight change in sound for the artist when compared to tracks such as "Echo" and "Convince Me". When I spoke with the sexy BAKER, he stated he was trying to create the catchiest pop album ever. If this is the first taste of that phenomenal project, then the artist is certainly on the right track. The song is unique, fresh and contains one of the catchiest, addictive beats I have heard in a while. Congrats whoever was in charge of production of this one.
The song was accompanied by a fantastic visual. Now the artist may not have the biggest budget to work with at the moment, but he knows how to work with what he has. The video shows the artist running around in the city that never sleeps. With closeups of his gorgeous face, this may be one of my favorite music videos, even though it has a very simple concept. The artist is relying on his looks for most of the three and half minute video, but what is wrong with that? I could watch him sing for hours! Some of the backgrounds are absolutely amazing and great shots are sprinkled throughout. Does the video go with the message of the song? Not really. But BAKER looks cute and as if he is having fun. That is what it is really all about. Include some moments of the artist singing live and glimpses of his perfect style and you have a music video that was well worth the wait. Have you heard of BAKER before?

A good friend told me to check out a strange video from South Korean male pop group, BIGBANG, and I obliged. I had no idea I was coming across one of my newest obsessions. "Fanastic Baby" is the name of my newest addiction, and I do not even know what is being said for two-thirds of the track. All I know is that the music video is flawless, has inspired many of my Halloween costumes for the next ten years and is a catchy listen. The visual is stunning and aesthetically appealling. From the beginng with the long, red hair, to the spikes, chains and amazing suits, I was drawn in and never wanted to leave this Korean fantasy. The first thing that went through my mind is why does Korea get to have all the fun? Why can't US male pop stars dress as crazy as this? I have a new obsession and I could not be happier.
I do not know much of the band yet, have not had the chance to check out more of their work, but this song is running through my head even as I write this. There is a wide range of vocals, some English lines thrown in, a club-ready, electropop beat, and some gorgeous faces and bodies all crammed into this four minute perfect creation. BIGBANG has made a name for themselves in their home country, but I do not know if that success can transfer overseas. We have Tokio Hotel from Germany, so my fingers will be crossed for these guys. Hey they already had an album chart on the Billboard Top 200, the first Korean act to do so, so anything is possible now. Waht do you think of BIGBANG and the "Fantastic Baby" video?
