Designers take inspiration from everything and everywhere - you never know when something is going to inspire you, be it a good thing or a bad one. This collection was inspired by wounds and violence, mainly slashes and bullet holes. Which if you look again, is exactly what the jewelry appears like.
Previous collections have featured pieces inspired by race, hunger, politics and money - but then, look at the results, a beautiful collection.
I find the bruises and the blood in the imagery a little disturbing, but then you don't normally see a lookbook which is filled with blood and gore - normally beautifully produced imagery featuring scowling models who look a bit bored. So this is truly - something different.
